City considering bright lights
Category: Discussion

Previously, Mulvane's city officials agreed to consider a suggested lighting resolution. At the request of Jay Patterson, the Planning Commision Chairman, the city took into account how proposed lighting for Rock Road could cause light pollution. This resulted in the full termination lighting installed on Rock Road, north of K15. However, recent decisions by city officials could result in lighting on 111th street that would send light spraying not only onto adjacent property but into outerspace. The city ought to consider all lighting options currently available, as well as research any future innovations. Even if the citizens feel no moral obligation against light trespass or pollution, they should feel an economic obligation to fight against paying to light outerspace.
